Be smart, play brilliant, and master craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately 100 years old. Current craps come about from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for certain the ancestry of the game, however Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s soldiers played Hazard during a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the fortification’s name.

Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when exiled by the English, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they eventually became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favored game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which was acquired from the name of the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and all over the nation. A great many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the current craps setup. He added the Don’t Pass line so players can wager on the dice to not win. At another time, he created the spaces for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
