Be cunning, play clever, and discover how to play craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately 100 years old. Current craps come about from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for sure the beginnings of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s horsemen enjoyed Hazard through a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the castle’s name.
Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when exiled by the English, the French relocated down south and discovered sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It is believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which was gotten from the name of the losing toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and all over the country. Most consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps setup. He added the Do not Pass line so players can wager on the dice to lose. At another time, he designed the spaces for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
